All you need to know to install an entire bathroom, run as a week-long course.

The course includes:

• Plumbing:
• To plumb a new bathroom from existing pipe work.
• Plumb in a WC, basin, bath and separate shower.
• Running pipe work to regulations.
• Structural timber considerations when running pipes and cables.
• Running copper and plastic pipe work for the hot and cold supplies.
• Running waste pipes and traps.
• Soil stack connection.
• Radiator/towel rail installation.
• Plastic or steel baths?

• Building:
• Build non-structural, timber stud wall, insulate, plasterboard fix.
• Floor tiling on timber floor i.e. joists – how to build the floor correctly, where you can’t tile.
• Shower area wall types – different cost effective options.

• Tiling:
• Basic tiling – wall and floor tiles.
• Cutting straight lines and holes.
• Manual and machine cutting.
• Setting out and preparation.
• Laying tile on floor and wall and grouting.

• Electrical:
• Zoning of electrical appliances.
• Ventilation.
• Testing sockets are safe, testing wires are live.

• Standards:
• Joist cutting for pipes and cables – what you cannot do – yes there is a spec on this.
• Water regulations.
• Electrical work – 17th edition specification – walk through.
• Building regulations – what they are and relevance.
• Power tools – Demo and use of the following: compound/mitre saw, jigsaw, SDS 240V drill, battery drills, circular saw, spirit level, 90 degree squares.

• Materials:
• Save money on materials – where to buy plumbing parts.
