Frequently Asked Questions

Anything missing?

Is there a course or mix of courses that you would prefer? Please contact us and let us know.

Who are your typical students?

Our students are a cross section of the general public from 18-years-old to retirement age, male and female, with a good mix of abilities. If you’re interested in learning or own a property and want to be able to maintain it then book a course with us and you will not be disappointed. Our feedback forms confirm this.

What do I need to bring along?

Just some writing material and your enthusiasm. We provide all the tools and parts necessary.

It sounds good but I’m a bit nervous?

It’s our job to make you feel at home and comfortable in asking any questions. We judge our performance on how engaged people are with the course.

Isn’t it too complicated?

The short answer is no. There is a huge amount of straightforward jobs that can be done around the home if you’re shown how to do it. We don’t cover everything such as central heating design but you will be able to tackle the vast majority of issues.

What are the benefits?

You’re in control by knowing how to do most plumbing tasks and understanding what’s in your home. All this means saving money, keeping the cowboys away and knowing the job is done right.

What can I learn?

From what to do in a leak emergency to plumbing in a replacement bathroom, see our course list.

Isn’t the course full of builders

Basically no, there are some people from the building trade but it’s usually only one per class.

I’m not sure if it’s for me

Why don’t you try one of our taster sessions?

I don’t think I can learn this stuff

All we ask is that you turn up and give it a go. We have designed our programs to be easy to learn with lots of hands on activities and very little jargon. It’s probably over 80% of the tasks in your home that you will be able to do.

It seems complicated on the TV

Plumbing can sound technical with the use of trade jargon and skills that are not as obvious as carpentry or plastering. Our courses are geared towards the general public with no experience but a wish to understand their home.
